Well it is 9am on a Wednesday morning, sitting at my new shiny, brown wood desk in a new environment can be quite overwhelming. In the heart and heat of the buzzing CBD in the City of Cape Town is a small, creative, boutique agency which specialises in digital content, production and websites. I have joined the board as a marketing manager and after copies amounts of really badly brewed coffee (which I clearly DO NOT KNOW how to prepare correctly) I am starting to feel like one!
Day number 2 is definitely proving to be better than Day 1 which ended with me getting stuck in a motor vehicle, up a hill at a four way stop! Could it have been any worse than that?! The stares, hoots and middle fingers I received was enough to last a football player who just missed a goal for a life time! The fury of the frowns, scowls and words along with aggressive expressions have scarred me for life! It seems it was a mistake that wash;t seen as one… the situation did not improve when I managed to roll the car (front first, luckily) down a hill towards a petrol station which I almost crashed into. Of course I jumped out and started blaming the car to which I receive more unwarranted scowls and muttered curses!
I am sure you would have made similar errors had you been awake for 36 hours previously on set for a new movie soon to be released and when you finally did manage to get to sleep the alarm rang a mere 5 hours later!
Aside from the unfortunate happenings of getting stuck in a sauna in the midst of danger, awaking to the birds tweeting and the usual cars honking outside my window only to find (not my ) car dented badly on the driver’s side and having to spend another sleepless afternoon/evening (after work) at the police station (a place I would rather not see the cold, hard inside interior of for a VERY VERY long time!) – a place I have been umpteen times in the past 12 months, I am starting to feel mildly better about things as I see the humorous side to my luck which would seem to consist of a series of unfortunate events and no luck at all! I am thankful I have so many stories to tell, such strength to show and such outrageous things to write about!
From me till next time
Yajna
